Vargas-Hernández, José G.; López-Mayorga, Vania Y.
The objective of this paper is to analyze the decision-making process on foreign direct investment (FDI) as
well as the location strategies used as the main objective which is the achievement of greater profits via cost
reduction. Part of the assumption that the Special Economic Zones (ZEE) recently decreed (2016) offer tax
incentives that allow them to reduce costs to foreign companies, encouraging them to establish them in these
areas. A comparative analysis of the EEZs with the state of Jalisco as a reference, since this is characterized as
an industrialized and attractive state for the arrival of FDI. The method used was a comparative analysis of
the descriptive scope of variables such as population by age group, level of education and the Global Indicator
of Economic Activity (IGAE), as well as the IED. Finally, the main conclusion is that the strength of these
states under the EEZ regime is the Economically Active Population (EAP). However, the decree that
establishes these special zones in Mexico must be accompanied by policies that strengthen the educational and
social and security conditions in these States.

Iyer, Vijayan Gurumurthy
Sustainable entrepreneurship is a kind of entrepreneurship that meets the needs of present without
compromising the ability, efficiency and values of future generations to meet their own needs. Sustainable
entrepreneurship is an important area in the literature for sustainable development. It involves all the
functions, activities, and sustainable actions associated with the perceiving of sustainable opportunities and
the creation of sustainable enterprises to pursue them. Green designs find that products and services are
environmental advantage with good performance and prices while achieving resource conservation and
recovery (RCR) and subsequent reduction of greenhouse gas emission in to the environment. Eco friendly
rubberized cotton fabric roller for roller gins has been designed and developed to control unsafe environmental
chromium pollution and contamination using chrome composite leather clad rollers in cotton roller ginning
process (Vijayan Gurumurthy Iyer, 2007). One of the benefits of creation of sustainable enterprise is an
achievement of waste minimization (WM). A case study in case of airport municipal solid waste management
(MSW) is discussed. Upon waste characterization and assessment study undertaken for airport industries, it
has been verified and validated that only about 20 percent of Addis Ababa International Airport (AAX)
generated waste recycled and composted every year. By conducting intensive environmental impact
assessment and WA recycling cum composting programs, about 65 percent of the airport MSW shall be
recycled and composted. So, the savings is a sum of landfill fees (tipping fees) and carbon tax if applicable per
year which could potentially save threefold with WA recycling cum composting programs. It is concluded
that the green product design and services reduce the environmental impacts associated with the
manufacture, use and disposal of products.

Socio-economic Status of Informal Sector Business Entrepreneurs in Bangladesh
Islam, Nazrul; Mahjabin, Cynthia; Nahian, Abdullah Hill; Shahriar, Abir; Arman, Adib; Sadia, Asma
Informal sector business is a highly growing sector of Bangladesh which is defined as the businesses that
are neither taxed nor monitored by any form of government or authority. A large number of small and
medium enterprises (SMEs) fall into this category of the informal sector of businesses. The major driving
forces behind the growth of informal sector businesses in Bangladesh are the rise in household demands for
goods and services manufactured and supplied by them as well as the rise in demand for intermediate inputs.
Unlike the formal economy, activities of the informal economy are not included in the country's
Gross National Product (GNP) or Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The largest numbers of employments
of Bangladesh are also created by this sector. At present, more than eighty percent employments of the
country are in informal sector. As the businesses of this sector are highly fragile, the employments in this
sector are also vulnerable in nature. These informal businesses are highly unregulated and unrecognized in
the country. People who are engaged in this sector include wage laborers, self-employed persons, unpaid
family labor, piece-rate workers, and other hired labors. The informal sector businesses are mainly engaged in
toiletries, electronics, clothing, household accessories, stationery, fruits, vegetables, foods, etc. Although,
informal sector businesses have a significant contribution to the economy of Bangladesh, the entrepreneurs of
this sector are neglected by the government and other supporting organizations. Hence, this study aims at
identifying the socioeconomic status of informal sector business entrepreneurs so that they can properly be
addressed by the appropriate authorities and the policymakers of the country. For conducting the study, 212
informal sector business entrepreneurs located in Dhaka city were interviewed with a structured
questionnaire. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze the data. Results show that the
informal sector entrepreneurs of Bangladesh face an unfavorable business environment that is mainly
characterized by a number of challenges such as, no stable place for business, low technical, administrative
and government support, no marketing knowledge, lack of scope for professional development, etc. Study also
found that the socioeconomic status of the entrepreneurs has been improved by their attachment with these
businesses. It improved standard of living of the entrepreneurs, use of gas in cooking, increase safety in
working lives, improved housing and medical facilities, increased savings and deposits in banks, increased
awareness about the people and the society. This study suggests that the policymakers of Bangladesh should
extent supports to the informal sector entrepreneurs in or to increase their contributions to economy of the
country.
