Women are capable of becoming major contributor in improving financial status of their family and society
and then help in reducing poverty if they start their own business. This, in turn, will make the country an
Economic superpower. But, in India they remain a minor group among all entrepreneurs as they face stiff
obstructions in their growth in the male dominated society. Problems found by women entrepreneurs are
different from other entrepreneurs and can be summarized as an overburdened with family work leaving little
time for developing business, No readily available finance, no mentor to support new business ideas, lack of
appropriate security in case of sudden shortage of funds. It was found based on national survey conducted in
2017 that women owned enterprises comprise about 10% of all Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises
(MSMEs) in India. But this number can be improved substantially provided regular and adequate financial
support and mentoring is provided to the micro and small women entrepreneurs. It was also found that if we
were to harness the still largely untapped potential of women’s entrepreneurship and provide them financial
support, it could lead to creation of more jobs, economic growth and, more diverse and representative small
business communities. To overcome these financial problems of women entrepreneurs of micro and small
sectors, Government of India have asked Banks/financial institutions to provide finance to them. This paper
describes in details, the various schemes launched by financial institutions for providing finances to micro
and small women enterprises.

Investment is an important factor in the economic development of each country, region or other forms of
territorial division. In the modern world, the Internet plays an important role in attracting them. It is
currently the fastest form of communication with the world. Therefore, it is obvious that this form of reaching
potential investors should be used, among others, by state and local government administration units. The
aim of the article is to answer the question how and to what extent the local government units try to attract
investors using their official websites. Do they devote a lot of attention to this form by preparing official
presentations of cities, or do they treat this method only marginally. The information will be analyzed based
on the websites of municipalities from two neighboring counties located on the Polish-Czech border. These are
the Nysa and Jesenik counties. The research results will also help determine to what extent individual
municipalities can verbalize investment needs in the public presentation [offer].

In the era of lopsided growth and development across the world and especially in our country, the
Microfinance happens to be considered as the panacea of the malice and the harbinger of inclusive growth
where the system of granting credit to the underprivileged sections of the society is encouraged for unleashing
their skill and potentialities towards helping them to reach the path of the holistic empowerment. In order to
comprehend the importance of togetherness and mutual support in withstanding the unknown world of
finance the significance of formation of self-help groups (SHGs) by the women is the sine qua non for
materializing the benefits of microfinance. Against the backdrop, the present study is undertaken to study the
impact of socio-economic changes on the women of rural areas of south Howrah after joining the SHG
movement. It has been revealed from the study that microfinance initiatives motivate the rural poverty-ridden
population especially women to become self-dependent, develop their income and standard of living reflecting
their importance in family and society. Moreover, it was also revealed from the study that the fact of the
attachment of women members in SHGs by virtue of microfinance initiative had helped them to change the
locus of household decision making power as well as decision for capital asset acquisition in favour of the
women thereby paving the path of their holistic development.

Impact of Access to Finance on Women Entrepreneurs’ Contributions to Self, Family, Society and Economy
Mendonca, Claret
Women entrepreneurs make significant contributions to their economies. In developed countries women
entrepreneurs are found to start businesses at a faster rate than men and are making significant contributions
to job creation and economic growth (OECD 2003; IFC 2010). The family and society at large suffers from a
variety of misconceptions, apprehensions and suspicions about women entrepreneurs. This is because of
inadequate studies about Indian women in business and society. There is also a stereotypical image of women
entrepreneurs as engaged in producing papad, pickle and ready-made garments, knitting and tailoring,
florists, beauticians and trading. They are mostly home-based and self-funded. This stereotyping image has
disadvantaged the genuine women SMEs in accessing finance and other resources. This study is intended to
enrich the literature on women in business in India and thus, create greater awareness of their capabilities,
achievements and contributions in order to create a supportive ecosystem for them in the state of Karnataka.
The study is exploratory and descriptive nature. The contributions of women entrepreneurs to selfdevelopment,
family development, society and economy were measured using 5 point Likert scale. Mann
Whitney test was used to determine the statistical association between contributions of the two groups (i.e.
those who availed bank finance and those who did not avail bank finance) and access to bank finance. The
impact of access to bank finance on women entrepreneurs’ contributions to self-development, family
development, societal development and economic growth was studied. The results showed that there is no
statistically significant association between access to bank finance and women’s contribution to selfdevelopment,
but her contribution towards family was found to be significant and her contribution to society
and economy were statistically highly significant.
