<title>Volunteerismas a Tool for Entrepreneurship and Education through a Socio-Economical Activity in the Context of the International Township Project of Auroville</title>

<description>Volunteerismas a Tool for Entrepreneurship and Education through a Socio-Economical Activity in the Context of the International Township Project of Auroville
Marco, Michael; Rodhain, Florence; Rodhain, Angelique
This project consists in studying the activity of volunteerism in Auroville, its impact in the development of the township. The goal is to demonstrate how it can be improved with a better organization, coordination and communication within Auroville for the benefits of everybody. And finally it is hoped that this research may find a way to explain why it should be considered as a real form of education, and how it can be applied in the&#13;
world. Volunteerism as a new way of defining the term ‘work’ is a growing phenomena in Auroville and in the world. More and more people from all ages and socio-cultural backgrounds are making the decision to leave the studies/occupation they were pursuing to dedicate their energy as a volunteer working for free somewhere, usually in another country. In Auroville many different units are using volunteerism for their creation, their current activity and their development. According to the statistics done based on the registration form that the foreigners have to fill in when they come to Auroville, we know that among 10,000 visitors, 2,500 are volunteers. With a population of 2,300 people, the volunteers are objectively taking an important part of the&#13;
development of the township. For the entrepreneurs in Auroville the volunteers represent a real added-value. On one hand the volunteers are enthusiastic people who decide to dedicate their energy for projects in which they believe and for which they are not even asking for a salary. This gives them to the managers real motivated workers for no cost and with a great sense of initiatives. On the other hand the fact of being a&#13;
volunteer gives them the freedom of taking initiatives, of not being bound by the liabilities or the limit of a labor system. This fact can make them be more self-confident that is the first quality of an entrepreneur. In that way, volunteerism can become an entrepreneur incubator. In fact in Auroville, several managers can witness that it is thanks to the volunteers that they got their success and the development they wished for&#13;
their enterprises.

<title>Social Strain and Social Entrepreneurs: Building a Sociological Perspective on Social Entrepreneurship</title>
<link>http://dspace.ediindia.ac.in:8181/xmlui//handle/123456789/264</link>
<description>Social Strain and Social Entrepreneurs: Building a Sociological Perspective on Social Entrepreneurship
Singh, Archana
Social entrepreneurship involves multiple disciplines and different perspectives or theories across disciplines have been used in this context. Though, several sociological perspectives have been used to explain behavior of social entrepreneurs, no empirical study has looked upon their emergence from the perspective of social strain. The present paper attempts to build a theoretical framework for social entrepreneurship from this sociological perspective. Building on Merton’s strain theory: “Social Structure and Anomie” (1968), it throws light on deviant behavior of social entrepreneurs in context of strain arising out of imbalance between cultural goals&#13;
and socially prescribed means to achieve these goals. When existing social norms are not producing desired outcome, it creates a strain on the individual. Rather than contributing negatively to their environment/ society, they innovate new ways to achieve their desired social goals and exhibit deviant behavior by not behaving according with the socially prescribed norms. Sometimes, they even do not accept the goal and&#13;
modify or change the whole existing social structure and replace it with new improved ones. Based on the discussion, several propositions have also been developed for further exploration.

<title>Social Inclusion and Social Entrepreneurship: Case Study of Mirakle Courier,Mumbai</title>
<link>http://dspace.ediindia.ac.in:8181/xmlui//handle/123456789/263</link>
<description>Social Inclusion and Social Entrepreneurship: Case Study of Mirakle Courier,Mumbai
Gupta, Kalpeshkumar L; Thomas, Sujo
Whenever we see disabled people, we say ‘poor guy’, some of us try to help him/her out for the time being, but we can see these people are socially excluded for one another reason. Dr. Lynn Todmann1 suggests that “Social exclusion refers to the process in which individuals and entire community are systematically denied rights, opportunities and resources that are normally available to other members of society and which is key to social integration. Problem of Social exclusion is tied to lack of opportunities as disabled people are more subject to exclusion than others”Most of the time they are not considered to be a part of the mainstream of the society.Many time we assume that disabled people will live their life wandering aimlessly without contributing anything to the society, they depend on abled people to help them every time. Disabled people are also a part of the society, they are not mere laggards created by the Almighty God. They need to be socially included by some positive steps. Social entrepreneurship is the recognition of a social problem and the uses of entrepreneurial principles to organize create and manage a social venture to achieve a desired social change. Present paper will discuss Social Inclusion, Social Entrepreneurship and relationship between these two. It will focus that how social entrepreneurship can bring the change in society. We have taken Mumbai based Mirakle Courier as a part of case study. It is creating job opportunities in its courier by employing Deaf and Dumb people and helping them to be self-reliant.
