Entrepreneurship in Contemporary Education: Time for Radical Shift
Rao, Ashok
There is rapid impetus given to "Industrialization" of most societies, in particular ours. These include new "soft" approaches by way of ICT and Service Industries. It is also a fact that Quantitative aspect of formal college education has exploded with over 400 universities and plans for quickly increasing it 10 fold. It is the output for these that are going to be the "Backbone" of future Knowledge Economy and more so a Knowledge Society. Unfortunately even Contemporary Education does not support Entrepreneurship culture among youth. The purpose of this paper is to explore hidden dimensions of these problems and advocate a Radical shift even in contemporary education to enable fostering of Entrepreneur Spirit in younger generation of students.

Entrepreneurship Education Awareness: Prospects in India
Desai, Ankit
It is increasingly being recognised that entrepreneurship education is essential not only for individuals but also for the success of entire nations. It has been said that India is the land of entrepreneurs and business lies in the blood of majority of Indians, but still what have we as Indians gained? Undoubtedly Rolls Royce for a lucky few but no food & housing for all! That’s where the true growth lies! Even after 60 years of independence we have not been able to eradicate Poverty, Illiteracy, unemployment and various other social evils, a possible answer to all the above stated evils can be effective Entrepreneurship!

Information Seeking by Entrepreneurs

Information Seeking by Entrepreneurs
Murari, Durga; Parekh, Harsha
An entrepreneur is an 'uncertainty bearer' and needs to take a variety of decisions which make or break the business. Entrepreneurs in different situations need information inputs in planning, implementing, monitoring or reviewing schemes, projects and programmes. The purpose for which information is required varies. There may be an immediate need for information to understand the situation one is in, to convince and persuade others, and to use the opportunities available. Without being conscious of the need, individuals in a situation may gather information which would either prevent a problem situation in future or help one to make the most of it. A study was undertaken in Pune city (using questionnaires and by collecting narratives) to find out the types of information entrepreneurs were looking for and the way they gather the required information and also the difficulties faced by entrepreneurs in acquiring the information. The results indicated that most entrepreneurs required information on consumer needs, marketing & distribution, legal information, technical information and information about finance and loans. Information about business practices and writing project proposals was also important. The major sources of information were personal contacts followed by professional consultants. Institutions and libraries were used for technical and financial information.
