<title>The Linkage between Traditional Knowledge as an Intellectual Property Right and Entrepreneurship</title>
<link>http://dspace.ediindia.ac.in:8181/xmlui//handle/123456789/5925</link>
<description>The Linkage between Traditional Knowledge as an Intellectual Property Right and Entrepreneurship
Araujo, Eliana Vanessa Valenzuela
The Entrepreneurship has always been existing in different fields, for instance: in the television industry, in&#13;
the textile industry, in the industrial design industry, in the tourism industry, in the transport industry, in&#13;
the food- processing industry, in the publishing industry and so on. As can be appreciated on the brief&#13;
catalogue above mentioned, Entrepreneurship emerges in almost every field that human imagination may&#13;
cover. However, this emergence or increase in the Traditional Knowledge field needs to be underpinned by&#13;
Intellectual Property Rights support. The World Intellectual Property Organization defines the concept of&#13;
Traditional Knowledge as traditional cultural expressions, knowledge resulting from intellectual activity in a&#13;
traditional context, and includes know how, practices, skills and innovations. As the definition shows it is a&#13;
new scope to discover and to investigate whether due to the enormous quantity of discovered and undetected&#13;
Traditional Knowledge all over the world or due to the lack of international legal protection in terms of&#13;
Intellectual Property Rights for Traditional Knowledge. This article intends to clarify and standardize the&#13;
scope of protection for Traditional Knowledge in order to be a guide for entrepreneurs who may desire to&#13;
innovate and invest in the field of Traditional Knowledge as a new source of value addition for industries.

<title>Legal Strategies for the Protection and Exploitation of Intellectual Property Rights for Startups</title>
<link>http://dspace.ediindia.ac.in:8181/xmlui//handle/123456789/5924</link>
<description>Legal Strategies for the Protection and Exploitation of Intellectual Property Rights for Startups
Pravalikha, Batthini Divya
There are many concerns an entrepreneur must struggle with when embarking on a business venture, but&#13;
most important of these is issues regarding business’s intellectual property. In today’s evolving world of&#13;
technology and social connectivity, intellectual rights are playing a vital role when it comes to starting or&#13;
growing a business. Intellectual property refers to a number of distinct types of creations of mind with legal&#13;
protection. These rights if not secured at the right time, may be lost forever. Intellectual property is a business&#13;
asset which has commercial value that many startups possess but they fail to realize the importance of it. The&#13;
main reason could be lack of knowledge in the field of Intellectual Property. This paper tries to discuss the&#13;
importance of Intellectual property rights as it provides competitive gains for an enterprise and also increases&#13;
its value and therefore it is necessary to let startup service providers and investors know the importance of&#13;
I.P, and ways to protect intellectual property in one’s business will be discussed with examples. It is aptly&#13;
said, ‘Ignorance of law is no defense’ similarly, the same cannot be pleaded in case of IP rights as they provide&#13;
time bound protection hence it is imperative that IP rights must be secured at the first instance.

<title>Innovation: The Marketing Imperative in a Flat World</title>

<description>Innovation: The Marketing Imperative in a Flat World
Atyam, Basava Raju
Creating a need for one’s product has always been a challenge. Now the necessity has only aggravated by the&#13;
cut throat competition and high supply demand gap which is skewed more towards supply in majority of the&#13;
products. Barriers are disappearing at a rapid pace in this highly technological, flat world. Here comes the&#13;
challenge to be different in more than one way – be it product, price, packaging, promotion or the place.&#13;
Fundamentals never changed or will never change. So it is the perspective with which we deal with each&#13;
aspect would determine how successful one is in marketing his/her product. This calls for innovation, put it&#13;
simply thinking out of box with positive impact.

<title>Implications of Intellectual Property Rights and Socio-economic Factors on Growth of Manufacturing Sector in Selected Cross Economies: An Empirical Assessment</title>
<link>http://dspace.ediindia.ac.in:8181/xmlui//handle/123456789/5922</link>
<description>Implications of Intellectual Property Rights and Socio-economic Factors on Growth of Manufacturing Sector in Selected Cross Economies: An Empirical Assessment
Singh, Ajay Kumar; Acharya, Satya Ranjan; Chavda, Pravin
Numerous studies assessed the influence of socioeconomics, IPRs and government policy factors on economic&#13;
growth across economies. However, in emerging economies manufacturing sector contributes large share in&#13;
GDP. While, the growth of manufacturing sector depends upon socio-economic factors, science &amp;&#13;
technological change related variables and IPRs related activities. In this regards, limited studies investigate&#13;
the influence of these factors on manufacturing sector across country using empirical models. Therefore, the&#13;
present study creates Intellectual Property Awareness Index (IPAI), Science &amp; Technological Development&#13;
Index (STDI), and Socio-economic Development Index (SEDI) (i.e. integration of SDI and EDI) using&#13;
composite Z-score technique for selected 41 developed and developing economies. These estimations identify&#13;
the performance of these economies in intellectual property rights, science &amp; technology, and socio-economic&#13;
development compared to each other. It compiles country-wise panel data during 2005-2013 for&#13;
aforementioned investigations. Thereupon, it assesses the association of these indicators with manufacturing&#13;
value added using linear, non-linear and log-linear regression models. Empirical results of the study imply&#13;
that all indicators have a positive and statistically significant association with manufacturing value added.&#13;
Results of the study facilitate several policy suggestions to increase the progress of manufacturing sector in&#13;
developed and developing economies.
