<description>Qualitative Research in Entrepreneurship Studies: A State-of-Science
Javadian, Golshan; Dobratz, Crystal; Gupta, Alka; Gupta, Vishal K.; Martin, Jeffrey A.
Qualitative research is becoming increasingly popular in organisational studies. There is growing consensus that qualitative research contributes positively to the diversity of academic inquiry in entrepreneurship, advancing rich and novel insights about entrepreneurial phenomena. We conduct the first large-scale synthesis of the qualitative entrepreneurship research literature. Based on a sample of 460 articles published across 45 quality journals, we offer an in-depth analysis of the state of qualitative research in entrepreneurship and unearth specific patterns in common practices of published qualitative investigations. Our analysis reveals several potentially fruitful avenues for the continued application of qualitative approaches in entrepreneurship research (e.g. entrepreneur-opportunity nexus). Suggestions on why and how to use qualitative research are provided, and recommendations are offered to guide future qualitative studies to advance better understanding of entrepreneurial phenomena.

<title>An Assessment and Planning Methodology for University-Based: Entrepreneurship Ecosystems</title>
<link>http://dspace.ediindia.ac.in:8181/xmlui//handle/123456789/11727</link>
<description>An Assessment and Planning Methodology for University-Based: Entrepreneurship Ecosystems
Meyer, Marc H.; Lee, Chaewon; Kelley, Donna; Collier, Greg
This paper proposes a method for assessing a university-based entrepreneurship ecosystem, grounded in the identification of major stakeholders, entrepreneurship-related activities directly related to those stakeholders, and with an eye to more comprehensive experiential entrepreneurship education that goes beyond traditional classroom education. The method incorporates specific approaches with each major activity area as well as outcomes, which are then aggregated into overall ecosystem strategy and performance. The paper concludes with an approach to action planning and resource allocation staging for university officials and supporting government bodies.

<title>The Organisational Life Cycle Scale: An Empirical Validation</title>
<link>http://dspace.ediindia.ac.in:8181/xmlui//handle/123456789/11726</link>
<description>The Organisational Life Cycle Scale: An Empirical Validation
Taie, Moyassar Al-; Steel, Aileen Cater-
Organizational life cycle scales are widely relied upon by scholar and practitioners alike as a strategic tool to identify firms’ life cycle stages. However, little attention has been paid to verifying and validating the OLC measures despite the considerable amount of OLC literature. The purpose of this study is to critically examine the psychometric properties of the OLC scale proposed by Lester, Parnell and Carraher. Data were obtained from a sample of 174 Australian Chief Information Officers from different sized firms and different industries and analysed by the use of component-based structural equation modelling. Results showed that the five-stage OLC scale exhibits acceptable validity and reliability indices despite some minor weaknesses. Results also confirmed the validity and the generalisability of this scale to measure and identify OLC stages in different types of industries. Based on these results and the literature review, alternate items were developed as substitutes for the weak items and an agenda for future research on OLC measurement is provided.

<title>Family Businesses and Digital Entrepreneurship Adoption: A Conceptual Model</title>
<link>http://dspace.ediindia.ac.in:8181/xmlui//handle/123456789/11725</link>
<description>Family Businesses and Digital Entrepreneurship Adoption: A Conceptual Model
Basly, Sami; Hammouda, Amira
Despite the prevalence of family businesses around the world, research on their contribution to the digital economy is still needed. A primary appraisal of the characteristics of the family business and the features of digital entrepreneurship suggests that the two phenomena are conflicting. Indeed, the most common descriptions of family businesses convey the idea that they favour stability to change and slow evolutions to upheavals and disruptions. This article attempts to answer the question: How could family businesses embrace the values and overcome the hindrances to digital entrepreneurship? To this end, this article suggests a conceptual model of digital entrepreneurship adoption in family firms. Based on the socioemotional wealth logic, we first describe the main variables influencing digital entrepreneurship adoption and then analyse the moderating influence of family involvement in the firm on the relationships between these variables and digital entrepreneurship adoption. Theoretical contributions and practical insights are presented.
