<description>Undergraduate Students Potential Entrepreneurs: A Study of BBA Students of Surat City
Vyas, Radha
There is a growing consensus that in the “information society” education is one of the key factors for the emergence of new firms and their development prospects. In this context, new ventures set up by graduates are expected to play a critical role especially for the emergence of knowledge and technology-based firms. The main aim of the paper is to analyze the influence of different contexts on: a) the image that students have&#13;
about entrepreneurs; b) the influence of social background on the motivation to become an entrepreneur; c) the perception about what positive or negative factors affect the creation of new ventures. However the social background of the students plays a major role. As Surat is mainly known as diamond city and silk city, being a hub for many industries, the study is worthwhile. Here, the researcher has covered 5 BBA colleges affiliated to Veer Narmad South Gujarat University for the study. Although this can be considered a preliminary study, it offers interesting indications for the design of entrepreneurship programs for university students.

<title>Inculcating Entrepreneurial Characteristics as aNecessaryDriver among Entrepreneurs for Regional Development</title>
<link>http://dspace.ediindia.ac.in:8181/xmlui//handle/123456789/217</link>
<description>Inculcating Entrepreneurial Characteristics as aNecessaryDriver among Entrepreneurs for Regional Development
Srivastava, Priyanka
This paper provides evidence on how lack of entrepreneurial characteristics among entrepreneurs makes a region laggard. This is done by conducting a comparative analysis the entrepreneurs of developing regions with that of developed regions of India. The first state is an old and developing one better known as Jharkhand which is compared with NCR, a developed one. Data were collected through survey method and included 152 entrepreneurs from Jharkhand region and 150 from NCR region who ran exclusively manufacturing units of medium and large scale industry. The findings show that there is a difference in entrepreneurial characteristics among the entrepreneurs of the two regions. The entrepreneurs of the Jharkhand region lack the important&#13;
characteristic like the need for achievement, opportunity recognition and etc. The findings of this paper suggest that inculcating entrepreneurial characteristics are considered to be indispensable in developing an entrepreneur’s sense of competitive advantage leading to the development of a region. Thus measure should be taken by the state government of Jharkhand to hone the characteristics of the entrepreneurs so that they acquire necessary competency for regional development.
