<title>Dynamic Capabilities and Entrepreneurial Ecosystems: The Micro-Foundations of Regional Entrepreneurship</title>

<description>Dynamic Capabilities and Entrepreneurial Ecosystems: The Micro-Foundations of Regional Entrepreneurship
Roundy, Philip T.; Fayard, Dutch
In pursuit of the beneficial outcomes of entrepreneurship, governments&#13;
and regional development organisations enact policies to stimulate&#13;
entrepreneurial activity. A growing focus of policymakers in emerging&#13;
and developed economies is the promotion of entrepreneurial ecosystems:&#13;
the interconnected system of forces that generate and sustain&#13;
regional entrepreneurship. Despite intense interest in entrepreneurial&#13;
ecosystems, the topic is under-theorised. Studies draw attention&#13;
to the positive effects of entrepreneurial ecosystems on the creation&#13;
and functioning of early-stage ventures; however, the specific mechanisms&#13;
through which ecosystems influence entrepreneurs are not clear.&#13;
To address this issue, we build on dynamic capabilities theory to create&#13;
a theoretical framework that identifies a set of forces through which ecosystems influence entrepreneurship. We propose that in vibrant&#13;
entrepreneurial ecosystems entrepreneurs are more able to sense,&#13;
seize and reconfigure resources and opportunities. Our theory contributes&#13;
to entrepreneurship research, has implications for policymakers&#13;
and practitioners, and suggests directions for future studies.

<title>A Social Cognitive Perspective on Opportunity Evaluation</title>
<link>http://dspace.ediindia.ac.in:8181/xmlui//handle/123456789/7796</link>
<description>A Social Cognitive Perspective on Opportunity Evaluation
Kushev, Trayan; Ahuja, Manju K.; Carter, Robert E.
This study uses social cognitive theory as basis to propose an integrative,&#13;
multilevel research model that examines how entrepreneurs evaluate&#13;
opportunities. We use a conjoint experiment coupled with hierarchical&#13;
linear modelling to empirically test the model. Results indicate that age,&#13;
gender, social capital relatedness and dispositional regulatory focus will&#13;
have an impact on evaluation decisions. The study contributes to the&#13;
extant research on opportunity evaluation by examining how entrepreneurs&#13;
evaluate opportunities and by providing an integrative framework&#13;
for the field of entrepreneurship.

<title>Corporate Entrepreneurship in the Digital Era: the Cascading Effect through Operations</title>
<link>http://dspace.ediindia.ac.in:8181/xmlui//handle/123456789/7795</link>
<description>Corporate Entrepreneurship in the Digital Era: the Cascading Effect through Operations
Joshi, Maheshkumar P.; Kathuria, Ravi; Das, Sidhartha
This study examines a firm’s response to perceived changes in the&#13;
environment, such as the growth of the digital era, at different levels&#13;
of a firm—beginning with the adoption of corporate entrepreneurship&#13;
(CE) down to process renewal (PR). We further explore if the technological&#13;
intensity of a firm, high-tech or low-tech intensity, influences&#13;
its choice of mode for organisational renewal (OR)—use of internal&#13;
competence or outside acquisition—to exploit the opportunities created&#13;
by the digital era. Using survey data from 170 firms, we test a sequential&#13;
relationship among environmental changes (growth of the digital&#13;
era), CE, OR and finally PR that involves operating procedures at the&#13;
functional level. We conclude by identifying the study’s interdisciplinary&#13;
contributions, which open new research avenues in the field of CE.

<title>Persistence Decisions: It’s Not Just About the Money</title>
<link>http://dspace.ediindia.ac.in:8181/xmlui//handle/123456789/7794</link>
<description>Persistence Decisions: It’s Not Just About the Money
Ma, Dalong; Mattingly, E. Shaunn; Kushev, Trayan N.; Ahuja, Manju K.; Manikas, Andrew S.
Drawing on threshold theory, we examine the effects of attributes&#13;
of alternative opportunities on persistence decisions of family business&#13;
entrepreneurs. The results of our conjoint experiment show that:&#13;
(a) family business entrepreneurs are generally more persistent than&#13;
other entrepreneurs and (b) family business entrepreneurs focus more&#13;
on non-financial benefits than other entrepreneurs. Our study contributes&#13;
to persistence literature within the family business context and&#13;
provides a good basis for how family business literature can benefit&#13;
from multi-level theoretical and empirical modelling.
