<title>CTSE – A Case Study to Encourage Start-ups and Skill Development among Engineering Students</title>
<link>http://dspace.ediindia.ac.in:8181/xmlui//handle/123456789/9713</link>
<description>CTSE – A Case Study to Encourage Start-ups and Skill Development among Engineering Students
Sethi, Mahendra; Shinde, Ulhas B; Shimpi, Jaiprakash; Gupta, Pallavi
CSMSS Chh. Shahu College of Engineering was established in&#13;
the year 2013 under the umbrella of Chh. Shahu Maharaj Shikshan&#13;
Sanstha. During the first 2 years, it was analysed that more than 80%&#13;
students are coming from rural background and they lack in soft and&#13;
technical skills. The principal and management of institute decided&#13;
to work on skills and entrepreneurship development for students. In&#13;
July 2015, “Center for Technical Skills and Entrepreneurship (CTSE)”&#13;
was established with the aim to design and develop industry-ready&#13;
training programmes and promote entrepreneurship among students&#13;
by taking up industrial/social problems as student projects, which&#13;
can be commercialized. Faculty members of CTSE started exploring&#13;
industries and various organizations for association. Two faculty&#13;
members were sent to EDI Ahmedabad for faculty development&#13;
programme on “Entrepreneurship Development”. A strong connect is&#13;
established with various academic institutions and industries. Till date&#13;
20 industry-ready training programmes are designed and developed,&#13;
few of them are included as an open elective subject in the university&#13;
curriculum. Four student start-ups are incubated and more than 10&#13;
projects have been implemented by students that has potential to be&#13;
patented and commercialized. These projects grabbed various prizes&#13;
at competitions, such as Bajaj Auto Bhartiya Yuva Shakti Trust (BABYST)&#13;
Business Idea Competition, eYantra Ideas Competition,&#13;
Mistubishi Electric Cup, Startup India Maharashtra Yatra, Avishkar&#13;
Competition, etc. The rest of the case study summarizes success stories&#13;
of start-ups incubated at CTSE and activities that helped to inculcate&#13;
the entrepreneurial attitude among students.

<description>CREATO: A Project Competition for Diploma Student Venture of Building Innovation Amongst Students Through Competition
Makwana, K M; Pamnani, Arti; Kachwala, Alefiya; Raval, Amitkumar
This paper deals with innovation and competition hand to hand. At the&#13;
beginning, the correlation between competition and innovation is dealt&#13;
with. This shows the importance of competition for better ideas and&#13;
workmanship. Later, the paper discusses the case study of CREATO:&#13;
A Project Competition for Diploma Students of Gujarat State. For&#13;
the same, later part of the paper indicates about student outreach and&#13;
effectiveness of the competition among the diploma students of Gujarat.

<title>Implementation of Problem Based Learning Concept in Engineering Academic Curriculum for Development of Entrepreneurial Attitude</title>
<link>http://dspace.ediindia.ac.in:8181/xmlui//handle/123456789/9711</link>
<description>Implementation of Problem Based Learning Concept in Engineering Academic Curriculum for Development of Entrepreneurial Attitude
Pathak, Manan Y; Yagnik, Utsav; Kalola, Dinesh
Problem-based learning (PBL) is already practiced in medical&#13;
education. In 1960s, it started at McMaster University situated in&#13;
Canada and became an instructional approach where students learn by&#13;
solving open-ended problems that are challenging in nature. Socially&#13;
and contextually based teams of students are created and the problems&#13;
that are authentic tasks are solved. The students “rely on their current&#13;
knowledge of the problem; identify information they need to know&#13;
to solve the problem; and decide the strategies they use to solve the&#13;
problem”. Due to rigid curriculum developed by University to which&#13;
given self-financed college is affiliated, implementation of PBL&#13;
becomes a challenging task to undertake. The main reason being that&#13;
there are many references that do not enlighten the issue of PBL but&#13;
rather only focus upon importance and success stories of the given&#13;
practice. To address this problem, in Silver Oak Group of Institutes,&#13;
Ahmedabad, we have started implementing PBL by allocating openended&#13;
problem to the group of second and third year engineering students&#13;
of any branch and giving them timeline chart and other resources&#13;
to solve such problems. To analyse the grading criteria of students,&#13;
Problem Recognition, Organization Structure, Quality of the Work,&#13;
Presentation Skills, and Learning Outcome-based Evaluation criteria&#13;
were employed. The prediction of the student’s self-employability can&#13;
be done by observing his/her entrepreneurial education and attitude.&#13;
The knowledge gained through the studied matter should be able to&#13;
reflect upon the skill set of the attendee, which should be the main aim&#13;
while designing the curriculum for the any given course.

<title>Projectsel: Web Base System for Selection of Project and Implement New Innovation</title>
<link>http://dspace.ediindia.ac.in:8181/xmlui//handle/123456789/9710</link>
<description>Projectsel: Web Base System for Selection of Project and Implement New Innovation
Vaghela, Alpesh; Suthar, Anilkumar C; Vaghela, Neha A
The web-based application (ProjectSel) will to be used for selection&#13;
of computer engineering capstone project. Every year, the student&#13;
will upload a text document, list of modules of project, and zip file&#13;
of source code of project in the ProjectSel application. If the student&#13;
has developed project as Industrial Defined Projects, he/she would not&#13;
need to upload a zip file. Next year the student selects a project from&#13;
ProjectSel application and will implement one or more new modules of&#13;
his selected project. If the student has selected a new project definition,&#13;
then he has to get an approval from the university. Next year the student&#13;
must be doing innovation of projects which his will be selected from&#13;
web application or the student will create innovation in project which&#13;
he created first time. New project definition of the student must be&#13;
related to new start-up. Reviewer of the project will check all the&#13;
things like documents, sourced code, and comment of source code&#13;
of new project definition. ProjectSel applications have facilities for&#13;
testing and implementation of project. ProjectSel has centre database&#13;
for MySQL, MSSQL, etc. as well as servers like Tomcat, IIS, etc.&#13;
ProjectSel is not only used for selection of project but also for testing&#13;
and implementation of project.
