Abstract:
From the Director General’s Desk: Disruption is important for businesses to grow. Outdated practices and structures only make a business obsolete and complacent, hampering long term growth. Technology adoption disrupts businesses as they significantly alter products and services, generate newer markets and entirely supersede the o0ld procedures and systems.India is creating a successful trajectory as a global technology and innovation hub in multiple
sectors but one domain where minimal technology transition is witnessed is the handicrafts sector. While there is a need to preserve the traditional crafts and the olden processes
of creating these, there is also a pressing need to step match with the market
requirements, strengthen the archaic practices with a touch of modernity and
technology adoption. This requires a mindset shift in addition to new skills
and competencies, and only such a change will help save the age-old practices
and crafts from getting extinct.
