dc.description.abstract From the Director General’s Desk: In the eighties, EDII recognized and promoted the significance of entrepreneurship, and within years, across the world, entrepreneurship started getting highlighted as an effective mechanism to facilitate economic development. Governments endorsed how the SME sector had the highest capital – employment ratio and how it also promoted regional balance in development. With EDII, the world gradually went on to promote, being a 'job creator' rather than a 'job seeker'. Apart from widely undertaking entrepreneurship development initiatives, EDII, as a strategy, also took the onus of facilitating creation of Entrepreneurship Development (ED) Institutes and Centres, within the country and outside as well. en_US
