Global automakers are facing cost pressure on account of the slowdown in the automobile market worldwide. Consequently, global major are looking at establishing manufacturing centres in India and China primarily because these countries have design capabilities and lower labour cost. Gujarat due to various reasons viz. vibrant economy, well developed engineering sectors, both international and national connectivity, low cost labour etc, can provide a great opportunity to these auto majors looking to set up plants in India.
