Bromine is an important marine chemical
and is a byproduct
of salt industry. Bromine
is a fuming and corrosive liquid of dark
amberred colour. It has intensely irritating
odour and it is a moderately strong oxidant.
It readily oxidises numerous metallic and
nonmetallic
elements to form salts and
compounds.
